Almost 60 years old, the Maison des Jeunes et de la Culture de Manosque continues its mission to contribute to the social balance of individuals. A socially and culturally mixed meeting place for all ages, the MJC aims to be a space for experimentation and social innovation to meet the expectations of the inhabitants.
Enabling each individual to become a future citizen, responsible, critical and active, this is our vocation, anchored in the most fundamental republican values of equality in the face of knowledge, political power, information and understanding of the world. This action of popular education, a necessary condition for a living democracy, notably through artistic and cultural practices, remains our main reason for being, and is included in our 2022/2024 association project, which can be consulted at the MJC secretariat.
Meeting, enriching and questioning each other are the key words of this 2022/2023 season, as many opportunities to get together! The MJC offers you a programme of activities of all kinds to escape, have fun, expend energy, create, learn, understand, in a privileged space where the pleasure of being together comes first! In need of each other, we hope to see more of you than ever for the start of the 2022/2023 school year.
The prices are unchanged in order to make them accessible to as many people as possible. While many of the activities that you have enjoyed are continuing, the brochure that you are about to discover gives pride of place to new activities.
BELABTOUBAP T’ BABELOUBAP! Scat, or the art of singing without words. It’s not only the alley cats from the famous cartoon who master the technique, but also all the greatest names in jazz, and you don’t need to have a basic understanding of singing to do so. For a more sonorous atmosphere, head for Brazil with the Batucada. Traditional percussion instruments born in Rio de Janeiro, they create a cosmopolitan musical space (a mixture of African, Portuguese and Indian cultures) based on listening and exchange, and marked by the history of slavery. At the same time, children will discover Capoeira, a meeting between dance and martial arts.
Finally, the ballroom dance workshops will be back, and new workshop formats: «Creative notebook» and «Clay» for teenagers/adults with independent practice in a dedicated room after basic technical training, and «Painting» courses for children during the school holidays.
For the other centres of the MJC, a cocktail of activities for 14-17 year olds and a fine programme of concerts at the Capsule are the subject of separate leaflets available throughout the year in limited paper editions and on our regularly updated website. You can also find all the news of the MJC on the social networks facebook and instagram.
Last but not least, we have a huge crush on the junior skateboarding association «EnDurance» whose creation was supported by the MJC with the eponymous festival in the autumn, the very first in terms of urban culture in Manosque.
We wish you a good season in our house!
For the Board of Directors,
its President, Aurore Hillairet
